Ice Climbing:

December thru late March

From early December until late March the Mountains of New Hampshire have countless gullies and flows of beautiful water ice.
If you have always looked at these and wondered what it was like to try climbing up a sheet of ice I can teach you the skills. It’s not just the climbing, it’s the weather, avalanche conditions, approach and descent plans. We will cover it all.
And if you hate the cold and want summer to come in January then move to Florida, that’s why they built it.

Let’s Swing an Axe (basic ice climbing)
If you climb rock and like to expand your usable terrain to outdoors in the winter my basic ice climbing course will help you aquire the skills to use crampons, ice axes, ropes and ice protection. If you have or do not have rock climbing experience I can start you  on the way to having the knowledge to play outside when the snow is blowing and the temperatures are chasing most people indoors. If you do it right you can stay warm and comfortable and have the mountains to yourself and a select few.

Feed the Rat (Intermediate to advanced ice climbing)
Once you have the ice bug there are skills you will need to continue climbing safely. Technique is the key to climbing efficency. Anchor placement, protection, rope management all become more difficult when your wearing gloves or mittens. Learning from professionals will accelerate your learning curve

Guided Climbs
Simple: You pick, we climb.

How it works:

We climb together,
We climb together with your friend (*or relative).
We climb together with two of your friends (or relatives).
I do not mix climbers who do not know each other.
(*Relatives can be friends, it depends on your family)

Levels:

You decide,
We will take you from where you are and help you acquire or refine your climbing skills. If you have never climbed or are an experienced climber we can help you improve your skills.
You can climb a day, many days in a row, for an overnight mountaineering trip of two or three or four days, it really up to what you decide is best.
